Q. Who is responsible for making the travel arrangements?
A. Each student is responsible for making his/her own travel arrangements. FOCUS does not
make travel arrangements.
Q. How much will I be reimbursed for my travel expenses?
A. Your reimbursement will be based on the region you travel from regardless of your mode
of transportation. (Please see Travel Allowance page for applicable
maximums.)
You must provide the following:
• Airline receipt (original only) or,
• Bus ticket (original only) or,
• Gas receipts and car registration or,
• Rental car receipt.
Q. How far in advance should I make my flight reservations?
A. You should make your reservations at least 21 days in advance. Here are few suggested Web

Q. If I drive and other students come with me, will they be reimbursed too?
A. No, only the driver will be reimbursed. Carpooling is encouraged to help reduce the
driver's costs.
Q. What if my school rents a van?
A. The transportation service/institution will be paid directly. The maximum amount for a van is $500.
Q. When do I complete the forms needed for my travel reimbursement?
A. You will have at least three opportunities to submit your travel reimbursement statement: During
FOCUS Registration on Thursday or before lunch session on Friday outside Ballroom or Saturday during
lunch.
Q. How do I get to the hotel?
A. If travel from airport, take public transportation rail.
Q. Where do I go once I get to Atlanta?
A. Proceed to the Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center, 800 Spring Street NW, Atlanta, GA

Q. How do I get from Atlanta airport to GT Hotel and return?
A. From the airport, take MARTA rail transportation. All
trains will be northbound and will stop at the Midtown Station N4. From MARTA Midtown Station
N4, the Georgia Tech Hotel shuttles run every six minutes from 5:00 a.m.–10:00 p.m. A detailed

Q. When should I plan to be in Atlanta?
A. Plan to arrive between 1:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Thursday prior to the Dr. Martin Luther King,
Jr. Holiday.
Q. When should I plan to leave?
A. The program ends at 1:00 p.m. Sunday. If flights are delayed the hotel lobby or Conference
E/Registration room is available.
Q. If I want to come earlier and/or stay later. Is that allowed?
A. Your lodging is paid for three nights in the designated hotel—Thurs., Fri., and Sat. You
are responsible for any lodging prior to and beyond these days. You are also responsible for any
incidentals charged to your room upon checkout.
